Eyam Saxon Cross, Church Street, Eyam, Derbyshire

This churchyard cross is close to the Church Porch. It dates from the early 9th century. It has a square stone base with a tapering shaft, topped by a Celtic cross. The shaft is decorated with foliage, scrolls, scenes showing the Virgin and Christ, angels and an angel with a trumpet. A small section of the shaft is missing otherwise this cross is unusually complete.
