Golden Hill Fort, Isle of Wight

Golden Hill Fort was built as part of the Palmerston defences between 1863 and 1869 and used as a barracks and coastal defence with views across the Solent. Despite years of negelect and a period of use as an industrial park, the six-sided fort known as one of 'Palmerston's Follies' is now being converted to residential accomodation.
