Great Hall, Kenilworth Castle, Kenilworth, Warwickshire

A photomechanical copy of a drawing showing an artist's impression of the Great Hall, or Banqueting Hall, of Kenilworth Castle in the Tudor era. The scene appears to be Robert Dudley welcoming Queen Elizabeth I and her courtiers. Kenilworth Castle dates from the twelfth century, and Leicester's Building was completed in the sixteenth century. Queen Elizabeth I visited Kenilworth three times in the sixteenth-century. This collotype print was created by James Valentine and Sons Limited and is a copy made from an original photograph also by the company. The date of this print has been confirmed from other surviving reproductions of this image. This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2013).
