Gregory's Quarry, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

A mason (identified as Joe Moorley) at work in Gregory's Quarry. The area around Mansfield is famed for its limestone, which was used in the Middle Ages for constructing religious buildings and in the 19th century for the Houses of Parliament. It does not weather well and now most of the work of the masons is involved in restoration.
