Guildhall, Small Street, Bristol

The Guildhall and assize courts were built in 1843-6. They are now used as courts .The Guildhall was the earliest Gothic town hall in England. The Assizes were built round a late Norman hall which became part of the Law Library. It was destroyed in the internal reconstruction of 1961. The sections between the upper windows have statues of Queen Victoria, Edward III, Foster, Dunning, Colston and Whitson in shallow statue niches.
