High Street, Lewes, East Sussex

Looking north-east along the High Street from the junction with Watergate Lane. There are groups of people and what appears to be a carrier's cart pulled by a horse. Carriers carts were used to transport goods, and sometimes people, from town to town. A system of regular services was operated by local contractors in all parts of the country.
