Hulne Friary Infirmary, Denwick, Northumberland

This building includes the remains of a religious infirmary (hospital). It is a unique survival of a Carmelite infirmary, following a typical medieval hospital plan. A Carmelite friary was founded here in c1240. It was built to house 24 friars. It was closed in 1539 as part of the dissolution of the monasteries.
