Liberty's, Great Marlborough Street, Westminster, Greater London

The Great Marlborough Street facade of Liberty's newly completed Arts and Crafts Tudor style department store building. This extraordinary building was constructed in 1922-24 using timbers from HMS Hindustan and HMS Impregnable. It was a remarkable reaction to the early twentieth century fashion for stone dressed steel-framed buildings. It was designed by Edwin T Hall and E Stanley Hall.
