Liverpool Road Station, Manchester, Greater Manchester
Liverpool Road Station was probably the earliest railway station in the world. There was no style of architecture to copy and it was designed more like a row of houses. The three doors gave entry to the first, second and third class booking offices. The station was built in 1830 by George Stephenson for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Company. An attached house dating from 1808 was used as the station agent's house. After many years of neglect it was restored and became part of the Museum of Science and Industry.
