Liverpool Street Station, Liverpool Street, City of London, Greater London

Construction work in the extension to Liverpool Street Station by the Great Eastern Railway. The roof and walls of the building are complete and work is in progress on the platforms and track. There are two men visible to the centre left. The state of the building suggests this might be re-laying work to the track and platforms as the extension was built in 1891. The station is built on the foundations of the first Bethlehem Hospital. Londoners later abbreviated this to 'Bethlem' and often pronounced it 'Bedlam'.
