Medhurst Millwrights, Western Road, Lewes, East Sussex

The millwright Mr Medhurst and his family standing outside his premises on Western Road. On display is a large waterwheel supported on a frame. Waterwheels were used to provide power to mills and factories. The man standing next to it gives a good idea of its size. On the left are a number of millstones.
