Minster Church of St Cuthberga, Wimborne Minster, Dorset

A view from the North East showing the medieval Minster Church of St. Cuthberga. The church was founded by St. Cuthberga before AD 705 as a double house for monks and nuns. It was destroyed by the Danes in the early 11th century and refounded before 1066 by Edward the Confessor as a college of secular canons with a Dean. It was dissolved in the reign of Edward VI in 1547. The present church is 12th century with some parts added in the later medieval period. It was restored in the 19th century.
