Normanton Down Barrows, Stonehenge, Wiltshire

A barrow cemetery on Normanton Down comprising 14 Bronze Age round barrows. They can be seen clearly in the image. Barrows are also known as burial mounds. The dead were often cremated and their remains buried in urns. Later a ditch was dug and the earth was used to construct a mound to cover the graves.
