This terrace of 9 cottages was built in 1846 for the Furness Railway Company to house their workers. It is important as the first row of cottages built following the arrival of the Furness Railway. The company requested 10 cottages 'to be built as cheaply as could be, the price if possible, not to exceed 100 pounds each' .
