Number 1 shed at RAF Cardington, High Road, Cardington, Bedfordshire

This hangar was built in 1916-17. It was enlarged in the 1920s to allow the huge Rl0l airship to be built and kept here. After the R101 disaster of October 1930, when it crashed on its first flight on the way to India, the building of airships stopped. This hangar is the only one of its kind left in Europe.
