Obelisk, Hawkstone Park, Weston Under Redcastle, Shropshire

A man standing in front of the obelisk in Hawkstone Park. It was built to commemorate Sir Rowland Hill, the first Protestant Lord Mayor of London (1549). Sir Rowland Hill bought Hawkstone and other land nearby in 1556. It was his descendant Sir Richard Hill who built the obelisk in 1795.
