Peat Store, Preston under Scar, North Yorkshire

This peat store is the only substantially complete building of the Keldheads Lead Smelting Mill. It was built in c1840 and extended in 1855. Peat was the fuel used in the lead smelting mill. A year's supply was taken from the moor, dried, and stored ready for use close to the mill.
