Peckforton Castle, Peckforton, Cheshire

Peckforton Castle is a country house, built in the style of a medieval castle. It was built in 1844-50, by Anthony Salvin for Sir John Tollemache MP. The house is the last serious fortified home built in England, created as a refuge from the social disturbances of the time.
