Red Horse Hotel, Bridge Street, Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire

The sign on the outside of the hotel states that it is a 'Family and Commercial hotel'. At this time people often did business in hotels. They were also used by travellers in either small carriages like the one in the image or in larger stage coaches. Travellers could have a meal while the tired horses were changed for fresh ones. Two of the hotels in the photograph have arched entrances which allowed coaches to go through into the stable yards behind.
