Royal Military Asylum, Kings Road, Chelsea, London

The Royal Military Asylum showing the porch with children in uniform on parade in front of it. It was built for the children of soliders of the regular army and in 1892 became the Duke of York's Royal Military School. The foundation stone was laid in 1801. It was orignally for 700 boys and 300 girls. From 1823 the girls were sent to Southampton, and in 1909 the school was moved to new premises at Dover.
