St Bernard's Hospital, Uxbridge Road, Ealing, Greater London
This building was originally a psychiatric hospital, known as a Lunatic Asylum. It was built between 1829-31 to designs by William Alderson. It is of historic interest for its innovations in psychiatric care. This included a form of occupational therapy and the large scale abolition of mechanical restraints. These improvements were made under the order of the Superintendants, Sir William Ellis and Dr John Conolly.
