This statue of Charles Darwin was built in 1897. Charles Robert Darwin was born on the 12th of February 1809, in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. He was born into a wealthy and well-connected family. He is best known for his work 'On the Origin of Species'. In this he suggests the theory of evolution.
