Statue of Josiah Wedgwood, Stoke on Trent, Stoke on Trent

This statue of Josiah Wedgwood was built in 1862. Born in 1730, into a family of potters, Josiah went on to become one of towns greatest potters. He vastly imporoved the quality of everyday pottery. He also ensured that his workmen and their families could live in decent housing close to the factory. When he died on 3rd January 1795 he left a thriving business and a fortune to his children.
