Stonehenge and the Avenue, Stonehenge, Wiltshire

An aerial view showing the avenue leading up to the stones at Stonehenge. The avenue is thought to be the processional way or cursus by which the monument was meant to be approached. It is visible as an earthwork. It leads to the River Avon. It may also be the final part of the route by which the blue stones were brought to Stonehenge. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
