Stoney Road Allotments, Coventry

With a little care a wide variety of fruit, vegetables and flowering plants can be grown in city allotments. Early allotments provided a space that people who had been attracted to the growing towns and cities could use to grow crops to supplement their diet. While some were provided by generous landowners, it was the demands of the poorer people that eventually forced the government to provide more land for allotments.
