Stowey Castle, Nether Stowey, Somerset

Nether Stowey Castle includes a motte with a stone keep and two baileys. The castle predates 1154 and may have been founded on an earlier pre Conquest site. It was probably developed by William Fitz Odo during the 11th century. The castle is next to a Medieval kiln site, the site of St Michael's Chapel and the remains of a Post Medieval mill.
