Sturminster Newton Mill, Sturminster Newton, Dorset

This water driven grist (corn) mill dates from the 16th/17th century. It was partly reconstructed around the mid 17th century and extended in the late 18th/early 19th century. A mill on this site was recorded in the Domesday Book. A deed of 1611 refers to a fulling or tucking mill built next to John Young's grist mill. It is an outstanding early example of a substantial water mill of this date with its 19th century machinery intact.
