The Castle, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire

This villa was built in 1816 by Joseph Medworth (b.1752, d.1827). Medworth reused material from the mansion built by John Thurloe (a minister to Oliver Cromwell) in 1656. This mansion had stood on the same site and was demolished in 1815. This was the site of a Norman castle. Medworth redesigned much of Wisbech at the time. Including building the Crescent and Circus.
