The Mausoleum, West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

The Mausoleum was built in 1765 and is a vast monument constructed of Portland stone and flint. It sits at the summit of West Wycombe Hill and houses the urns containing the ashes of the Dashwood family. The most notorious member of the family was Sir Francis Dashwood, 15th Baron le Despencer (1708-1782). He lived a flamboyant lifestyle and was a member of the Hellfire club.
