Wallasey Grammar School, Wallasey, Merseyside

This building in Breck Road was used as Wallasey Grammar school from 1799 until 1884. From 1907 the school was based in Withens Lane in a building that then became Liscard Primary School. The school moved to Birkett Lane, Leasowe, in 1967 and later became known as Wallasey School. The original school building was converted into a house. Grammar Schools were set up from the 15th century to provide a free education to poor children. They were generally founded by philanthropists, charitable organisations or guilds.
