Warren Hastings House, Churchill, Oxfordshire

This house was built in the late 17th century and then remodelled in the early 18th century. There is a 19th century memorial plaque on the wall the reads "WARREN HASTINGS/WAS BORN IN THIS HOUSE/DEC.6 1732/DIED/AUG.22 1818". Warren Hastings was the first Governor General of India from 1773/4-1785. He played a large role in setting up the administrative system of the British Empire in India.
