Wheeldale Roman Road, nr Stape, North Yorkshire
This is stretch of road runs along Wheeldale Moor. It runs from an escarpment north of Pickering and passes by the Roman sites at Cawthorn and Lease Rigg. It was originally excavated between 1912 and 1920. This site is now in the care of English Heritage (2011). Read detailed archaeological description.
