Central Methodist Church, 123 High Street, Lincoln

Central Methodist Church, 123 High Street, Lincoln LN5 7PR

Built in 1905. Central is a Grade 2 listed and very impressive building. With a domed tower at one end and a small turret at the other, it can be clearly seen from further up the High Street, adding an interesting vista to the city. The interior comprises a beautiful church with stained glass and painted windows, and cantilever pews. To the rear there is a large hall and upstairs a theatre area. Central is also home to some lovely silk hangings in the church which depict the seasons, with the Cathedral in the background. These were embroidered by Angela Dewar. In the rear hall there are some very large and interesting murals depicting the people and area around Central. They came about as a result of vandalism and are the work of artist Gary Drostle. Tours of the art work are available.
