Ely Cathedral is a Christian Church offering daily worship and a place of prayer and sanctity. It is the seat of the Bishop of Ely and the mother church of over 300 parishes that make up the Diocese of Ely. The Cathedral is also a historical monument, built to the glory of God, which welcomes thousands of pilgrims and visitors every year.

Opening Arrangements

Monday to Saturday: Visitor entry 10am - 4pm (visitor charges apply) Sunday: Visitor entry 12 Noon - 3pm (visitor charges apply). Very occasionally we need to close our doors to visitors for a private service, event, filming or maintenance; or restrict access to certain parts of the Cathedral. We are aware people travel long distances to visit Ely Cathedral so we try to minimise periods of closure as much as possible. As soon as we know about a closure the information will be posted on our website. Please remember to check our website for any last-minute changes before your visit as some events may have to be arranged at short notice. Services usually take place Monday - Saturday at 5.30pm and Sunday at 4pm – everyone is welcome to attend.
