The Former Police Barracks, Building 85 and access to the former Gunboat Yard that includes the historic wall, guardroom and watch towers. The Police Barracks were constructed circa 1856 as part of the Haslar Gunboat Yard, which housed and repaired British gunboats between 1856 - 1906. The Gunboat Yard is a unique example of it's type and has high architectural and historic significance. Until May 2016 the buildings were Scheduled under the Ancient Monument and Archaeological Areas Act 1979. Miscellaneous buildings at the Haslar Gunboat Yard were deleted from the Schedule in May 2016 and following a review of designations in November 2015, the importance of these structures was subsequently confirmed and recognised by their inclusion on the National List of Buildings of Architectural and Historic Interest and Graded as Grade II*.

Opening Arrangements

Monday to Friday 09.00 to 16.30 hours, 12 months per year. Weekends and Bank Holidays by appointment. Serving armed forces personnel and members of Armed Forces Sailing Associations and Hornet Services Sailing Club access without notice; other guests by appointment with 24 hours notice.
