The Buttermarket & Mining Exchange, Station Hill, Redruth, Cornwall
The Buttermarket & Mining Exchange, Station Hill, Redruth, Cornwall TR15 2PP
The Buttermarket & Mining Exchange is comprised of a small cluster of Grade II listed buildings related to the market and mining heritage of the town of Redruth, once the centre of the Cornish tin and copper industry. The buildings are grouped around an open central courtyard which is a public thoroughfare during the day, but is locked up at night. A major capital refurbishment scheme started in January 2023 and will be completed by July 2024; the complex will then provide a mix of tenanted workspaces, small cafe units, a gallery and small retail units as well as a programme of markets and entertainment.
Opening Arrangements
Currently closed for refurbishment, but from July 2024 the courtyard is open to the public Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm. Evening and weekend opening hours will be subject to review and extension once the works are complete. We have been providing regular open days and site tours during the building works and these will continue until the works are complete.
