Tooley's Boatyard, care of Banbury Museum, Spiceball Park Road, Banbury, Oxfordshire OX16 2PQ
The Old Forge forms part of Tooley's Boatyard, the oldest continually working narrowboat yard on the canals network. Both the Forge and the dry dock were built in 1778, when the Oxford Canal reached Banbury. The Forge was needed to shoe the horses which pulled the boats; nowadays it is used to demonstrate iron-working skills and to teach people how to produce simple iron artefacts.
Opening Arrangements
The Forge is open on Saturdays, 10am-1pm, or by appointment. The Boatyard is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-1pm.
