Winlaton Mill Ironworks, South East of Winlaton Mill Village (Crowley Dam), Gateshead

Crowley Dam is the largest remaining element of the Winlaton Mill Ironworks. It is designated a scheduled ancient monument. The dam, associated spillway and sluice gate were recovered as part of the 1999 land reclamation works and, in 2019, were restored. As part of the restoration works a dedication stone to Ambrose Crowley was recovered.

Opening Arrangements

Site is open all year round as part of Derwent Haugh Country Park
