Church of St Michael, Garway - Herefordshire, County of (UA)
Roughly coursed sandstone rubble with tufa and stone slate tiles. Former preceptory of the Knights Templars, dating from C12 but extended in C13 and C17. Single nave church to Chancel via a three orders ornate and round arch. Steps to the east of the Chancel led to the rood loft. The South Chapel has a C13 arcade of 2 arches. The tower is set separate to the North West linked via a C17 passage. The battered tower with a pyramidal roof was extended in C17 and cracks have appeared above the intermediate chamber; slipped or missing tiles to the roof. Stonework and rainwater goods need repairs.
