Church of St Thomas the Martyr, Church Street, Up Holland, Up Holland - West Lancashire

With the nave dating from the 14th century and formerly the chancel of the Benedictine priory, this parish church of coursed rubble with slate roof is of exceptional significance. Suffering from numerous problems, the external masonry is in a poor condition with loss of pointing and drip details to openings, and inappropriate repairs allowing vegetation to take root and moisture to penetrate. A large-scale outbreak of dry rot is currently being treated. However, the issues causing water ingress to the interior, including poor drainage around the building, remain.
