St Margaret's Church, Church Gate, Leicester - Leicester, City of (UA)

Large, mainly C15, city centre church. Some original sandstone walling material has weathered badly and is actively shedding stone fragments. Scaffolding has been erected around and beneath the west door of the tower to protect passers-by. There are localised flashing defects, woody rooted growths, rainwater disposal issues at high and low level and water penetration. An Expression of Interest was submitted to the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2019. Historic England has encouraged the church to share their ambitious and exciting repair and development proposals with the City Council.
