Church of St Michael, Silvington, Wheathill - Shropshire (UA)
This church consists of a short C12 nave with an asymmetrical west tower of similar date aligned with the north wall, a C14 chancel and a C16 porch. Walls are constructed in coursed and squared rubble reflecting the local geology and roofs are steeply pitched and covered with red plain clay tiles. The nave north wall has raking buttresses installed in C19 to address structural deficiencies. Extensive cracking to both nave and tower walls suggests inadequate bonding of the external facework and the presence of voids in the core of the walls. The extent and scope of repairs has yet to be agreed.
