Church of St Margaret, Cowlinge - West Suffolk
Dedicated to St Margaret's of Antioch. The church is mainly constructed in C14 of flint and stone rubble. The clerestory is C15 and the red brick tower is C18t. Nave, chancel and porch roofs tiled. King post roof trusses in nave which may be C15. Mediaeval rood screen c1400. The chancel arch contains significant traces of a large medieval wall painting depicting the last judgement. The nave roof has many missing tiles and the chancel and north porch roofs also in poor condition with missing tiles. Clerestorey window masonry failing. Inadequate drainage.
