Church of St Peter, Main Street, Kirby Bellars - Melton

A large C13 church, former priory, with C14, C15 and C16 work. Restored late C18, in 1820, and late C19. Ironstone walling and a limestone spire. Spire repairs undertaken in 2013 following a National Lottery Heritage Fund Grants for Places of Worship grant. An unsuccessful application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2018. The church was the subject of heritage crime in 2017. Repairs to the tower masonry, roofs and drainage are urgently required; there are fruiting bodies. Historic England's Covid 19 Emergency Heritage at Risk Response Fund awarded funds to develop repair proposals.
