Church of St Mary De Castro, Castle Yard, Leicester - Leicester, City of (UA)
A National Lottery Heritage Fund grant was awarded in 2011 for a detailed assessment of the spire. The condition of masonry was such that urgent dismantling was necessary, this was completed in summer 2014. Much further repair work has been undertaken as part of a four-year staged plan to tackle backlog repairs. The next phase will include masonry repairs to the south wall and south aisle gable. A small grant has been awarded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund for consultants to help develop proposals. Fundraising is underway. There are currently no plans to rebuild the spire.
