Church of St Swithun, Churchgate, East Retford - Bassetlaw

Church in the centre of East Retford. C13 origins, with major rebuilding work in the 1650s following the collapse of the central tower. The church has been suffering from many leaks. Nave and aisle roof coverings were repaired with a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant in 2010 and a second phase of repairs to transept roofs and tower was completed in 2014. Further roofing and masonry repairs still urgently required in other areas, and this will be carried out as funding allows. The church has been subject to heritage crime.
