Church of St John, Gateford Road, Worksop - Bassetlaw
Church, 1868, by RC Clarke & Son. Built in the Decorated Revival style. Large west tower and spire. Steeply pitched slate roofs over coursed walling stone with gable parapets. Stone erosion at high level. A steeplejack inspection in 2021 revealed various defects including movement at an estimated cost of £170,000. The parish have been fundraising and engaging positively with various funding organisations. Repairs to the spire began in June 2023, with minor repairs still ongoing. Repairs to the north and south aisles, vestry and organ loft roofs were underway in early 2024.
