Newstead Abbey and adjoining boundary wall, Newstead Park, Newstead - Gedling

Priory circa 1165, post-Dissolution country house, now a visitor attraction and museum, set in formal gardens and parkland. Home of the poet Lord Byron. By 2018, the threat of falling stone fragments from the adjoining priory church ruin meant that this part of the site was not accessible to the public. Historic England awarded a two stage grant for project development and repair work in 2018. Repairs were due to complete in late 2019 but some work was postponed until spring 2020. Work re-started in May, following a Covid-19 delay, but should be complete in mid-2020.
