Newstead Abbey and adjoining boundary wall, Newstead Park, Newstead - Gedling

Priory circa 1165, post-Dissolution country house, now a visitor attraction and museum, set in formal gardens and parkland. Home of the poet Lord Byron. Repairs have been carried out to the house. However, the threat of falling stone fragments from the adjoining priory church ruin means that this part of the site is not currently accessible to the public. Condition surveys have been undertaken and a sensitive repair programme is required. Historic England has awarded a grant for project development and repair work in 2018. Repairs are underway and are due to complete later in 2019.
