Newstead Abbey and adjoining boundary wall, Newstead Park, Newstead - Gedling

Priory c1165, post-Dissolution country house, now a visitor attraction and museum, set in formal gardens and parkland. Home of the poet Lord Byron. By 2018, the adjoining priory church ruin was cordoned off on account of falling stone fragments. Historic England awarded grant aid in 2018 and repairs were completed in 2020. The roofscape is complex. Roof coverings are at the end of their effective lives and need replacement. Historic England provided grant aid in 2023 for a detailed prioritised and costed condition survey. Arts Council England funding is being sought for repairs.
