Terrace Known as the Balcony Garden, including Balustrading and Pavilion, Barham - Mid Suffolk
Part of the extensive gardens at Shrubland Hall designed by Sir Charles Barry. Balustrading, seating recesses and pavilion atop retaining wall, enclosing three sides of the rectangular terrace extending below the west front of Shrubland Hall. The pavilion is positioned on the Hall's central axis and provides visual and physical access to the Grand Stairs. Decorative stonework has been severely eroded and the overall condition of the structures is deteriorating. Historic England is working with the Local Authority to devise a scheme of repair and discussions are ongoing.
