Spring Valley Mill, Spring Valley Lane, Ardleigh - Tendring

C18 watermill, white weatherboarding over painted brick base. Beam engine of c1873 now gone but mill machinery intact. Mill disused since1930s. Roofs leaking and building splitting apart. Front wall bulging and some of the weatherboarding is missing. These defects put the structure and the machinery inside at serious risk. 2017-18: Investigations and some urgent work to 'mothball' the building carried out with Historic England Repair Grants for Heritage at Risk. Current condition to be reviewed with owner, his advisers and the Local Planning Authority to determine a viable way forward.
